Tom Heel - Oxford Branch Manager

Tom manages our Oxford branch.  He joined Southern Solar to manage PV installations for the Bristol branch in 2009. “I had previously enjoyed working with Southern Solar as a Project Manager for a developer, constructing high environmental specification houses with PV and Solar Hot Water installations and relished the opportunity to join the team. I bring experience of the challenges of constructing to high levels of the Code for Sustainable Homes (the governments rating system for the sustainability of new build housing). I enjoy leading our growing branch and being part of a dedicated team working for an organization contributing to the creation of better, more environmentally sensitive buildings.”

Claire Lund - Office Manager

I joined the Oxford branch of Southern Solar at the start of 2011, previously from Bristol I’m really enjoying getting to know the Oxfordshire area. I gained an enthusiasm for renewable technologies and climate change through my degree in Physical Geography from the University of Sheffield. My role is the first point of contact for anyone interested in installing solar energy and I’m always happy to provide information and advice.  I’ve loved every minute working for Southern Solar it’s nice to be involved in a company with people who cares about what they do and I looking forward to the challenges that the role promises. Outside of the office I enjoy keeping active, going to the gym, socialising with friends and going to see live music.

Jon Roper - Sales Consultant

Jon was delighted to join Southern Solar in December 2010, straight from his MSc in Alternative Energy, focussing on improving the efficiency of energy system designs. He has an active interest in community work in his home town Aylesbury, helping out part time for a mobile ICT centre, the i-Van. He enjoys a good game of football, loves cycling, keeps chickens, and loves working at summer festivals. He has a background in PA and sound system design and operation. He is looking forward to working for a company which holds such a passionate belief in the importance of renewable, decentralised energy production and empowering individuals to take initiative in reducing their carbon footprints, living more sustainable lives.

Jason Fuller - Project Manager

‘I am the Electrical Team Leader at the Oxford branch; recently moved from the Hereford Branch. I look after the day to day running of the installation team. My background is electrical engineering and I have been involved in renewable energy for several years. I love what I do because I get to work with like minded people and I also feel it is a worthwhile thing to be doing. In my spare time I enjoy being in, on or near the water, playing guitar and good ale.’

Simon Barnes - Installation Team Leader

Simon joined Southern Solar in September 2010. Prior to this he had worked as a specialist solar hot water system installer for over two years so brings considerable renewable sector experience to the team.  He is a qualified Plumber by trade and has additionally worked for a ground and air source heat pump installation company.  “The Jobs I have been involved in range from domestic installs to Highgrove House, Bath and Leeds University and Mohammed Al Fayeds home.  I am an out-going man who enjoys football, surfing and snowboarding. I enjoy the more adrenalin sports such as white-water rafting and bungee jumping as well as travelling and socialising at my local.”

Justin Ryan - Installation Team Leader

Justin joined Southern Solar in September 2010 after working in the renewable energy industry for two years. Prior to this he had gained 7 years experience in domestic and industrial plumbing.  Justin says "I have been Married for 10 years to my beautiful wife Karina. I have a five year old boy called Ben. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family and playing football for my local team. I also enjoy going to support Fulham football club who I have supported for over thirty years and go to as many England games as I can".

Tristan Wilkins – Installation Team Member

Tristan joined Southern Solar in August 2011, after completing his electrical installation apprenticeship. During his apprenticeship he was nominated for apprentice of the year and he has brought this ethic of hard work and enthusiasm to the Southern Solar team. In his spare time Tristan enjoys extreme sports, street dancing and is also musical playing both the guitar and drums.
