Naomi Andersson - Branch Manager

A keen organic allotment gardener, manicure expert and knitter/crocheter in my spare time, I joined Southern Solar in November 2010.
It’s fantastic to be working for a company that is growing so fast, the people are what make it such a friendly and welcoming business. I love to be working with the latest in technology, what could be better than a truly sustainable and renewable energy business, supporting locally produced clean energy and providing local employment.
When not ensuring the smooth running of the Hereford Branch, I can be found exploring the great outdoors or playing games with my two children and darling hubby, I love to cook, travel, run, play golf, in fact anything outdoors in my spare time. At home we have a Guinea Pig called Tommie, Rabbit called Joshie and a Cat called Petal, the kids think the pets are theirs, it’s not true, they are mine!
James Ford - Commercial Sales
I joined Southern Solar in June 2011, having worked as a sustainability advisor and energy assessor for a housing association over the past three and a half years. During this time I developed a keen interest in energy management and I enjoy coming to work knowing that I can make a contribution to the future of our energy resources.
I was drawn to Southern Solar because of the people that I get to work with. Everybody is passionate about the job they do and are ambitious to learn and improve the quality of the service they provide. There is a great balance of professionalism, fun, individualism and team work.
When not in work I keep myself busy rowing and coaching juniors to row. I love a good challenge even though my last two were incomplete (John O’Groats to Land’s End cycle and Kilimanjaro) and I like to travel off the beaten track. I am also kept busy by two guinea pigs called Hercules and Suzy and two tortoises, Louis and Hubert, who provide a great demo of the benefits of solar power!
Joe Perry - Domestic Sales

After graduating from the University of Plymouth with a BSc in Geography in Spring 2010, I spent the following summer travelling in Asia. During that time I visited a number of Sustainability and Development projects which fuelled my ambition to work within the Renewable Energy sector. After returning home I began to research companies that I would like to be a part of. Southern Solar ticked all the boxes for me, having a great history and what I believe will be a fantastic future. I began volunteering for the company in late 2010, eventually becoming a full time employee in May 2011. Its great working for a company who constantly work towards a low carbon environment and have so much knowledge about the business they’re in. Outside of work I try to get out on my mountain bike as much as possible, I love to travel but when I’m at home I enjoy anything to do with sea; surfing, snorkelling or just chilling on the beach. I’m a big fan of live music and also a good Ale.
Paula Urry - Sales Support Coordinator
I joined Southern Solar’s Hereford branch in September 2011 after moving back to the area where I grew up – it is SO good to be back. I have a mixed background as an army officer, an office manager and a cowgirl to name a few. This was nicely rounded off in 2010 when I completed my degree in Environmental Science at UEA. My ‘enlightenment’ regarding carbon emissions, global warming and climate change has changed my life and the way I live my life.
I am so excited to be working for a company that shares my beliefs on current global environmental issues. There is a passion here for teamwork, providing excellent service and reducing fossil fuel consumption one solar panel at a time. We are a local team using local resources to enhance the lives of local people.
I love horses, scuba diving and visiting new places. Apart from my husband, other loves of my life are our old mare called Mally and our two cats Lulu and Diega. All our spare time is taken up at the moment building our new home – the renovation of a very dilapidated Victorian School House. Ground Source Heat and Solar Energy are a top priority!
Kris Dunn - Project Manager
Having joined the Hereford Branch of Southern Solar in August 2008, I am involved with the installation of solar Hot Water and PV systems. Even as a kid, I loved designing and building things. I have an electrical/electronic engineering background, and I would like to become more involved with the planning and design of renewable energy systems.
I love working for Southern Solar, being part of something that puts people first is so refreshing, everyone shares the same vision and concerns for the planet - Southern Solar isn’t a company, it’s a collective project. I want to make a contribution, give people control over their energy requirements and yet be aware of the bigger environmental picture.
When not working, I enjoy visiting the spectacular hidden gems of this rainy little island. I also like working on my classic Mini, reading and drawing. Though not all at once.
Rob Carne - Installation Team Member
I joined Southern Solar in July 2010, I have been in the building trade since leaving school and have loved every minute of it, I joined this team because I believe I can learn a lot more, and I have a great interest in renewable energy and the environment . After joining I have been involved in the installation of solar hot water and PV modules, the work is satisfying and the team I work with are very passionate about what we do so it all makes it worthwhile. This is the first job where I wake up in the morning and cannot wait to start work.
I'm very interested in motorsports, moto x, and anything where you have to race. In my spare time I like to go downhill mountain biking, dirt jumping, going to music and beer/ cider festivals, and chilling down the local with a nice cold glass of cider.
Alex Howard - Operations Support and Installation Team Member
I joined Southern Solar on a full-time basis in September 2010 after working for the company part-time over the previous four months. I find the work extremely interesting and enjoyable and I was delighted to be given the chance of joining such an enthusiastic and inspiring team.
Outside of work one of my main interests is travel. It was through travel and particularly driving through the solar fields of Southern Spain that the industry first captured my imagination. My other interests include fishing, hiking, football and pretty much any other ball sport.
I feel a huge sense of satisfaction working in an industry which has the potential to take the world forward both ecologically and economically
Andrew Davey - Installation Team Leader
I started working for Southern Solar in February 2011,shortly after seeing one of the branch teams working in my local town. Having spent most of my working life in the building trade,I felt well-equipped with knowledge that would be of use to the company. The work is invariably interesting and challenging at the same time, and I have already been involved in some major projects.
My spare time is mostly taken up with my partner and two young children, and spending as much time as possible in the great outdoors,on foot or on my beloved motorbike.
