Haydons PV Case Study
The Haydon family from Herefordshire, 3kW system.
The Haydons live in the rural Herefordshire countryside in a Conservation Area. They approached Southern Solar in 2006 looking for advice on how to make some kind of commitment to their energy usage at the home which is also an office for Shaun.
After an initial meeting and having been given a couple of options they decided to go for a solar electric system. Application was duly made to the Planning Department who approved the installation without any concerns despite the Conservation status of the area. Southern Solar are experienced at dealing with applications of this sort.
Installation: The installation was started after an initial issue when bats in the attic halted proceedings temporarily. We researched the best tariffs available at the time on behalf of the customer and helped oversee all the paperwork associated with Grid Connection.
The Haydon family had this to say:
"We were very impressed with the detailed discussion in the first meeting where we jointly analysed the suitability of different microgeneration schemes. Up to that point we only had a vague awareness of what was possible and practical, but it was explained clearly without there being any sense of a hard sales job.
The help and advice received on how and when to approach the grant application was invaluable as we would not have proceeded without such support. The installation was conducted with minimal fuss and disruption.
Since being in operation we've been pleased with the efficiency of the system and eagerly check out how much we've pushed back in to the grid."
