Islington Climate Change Fund
Lcoation: Islington, London
Date: Jan 2008 - Dec 2009
Category: Home owners grant scheme
Overview:
Islington Borough Council awarded Southern Solar the contract to supply and fit solar hot water and solar electric systems under their Climate Change Fund. This scheme provided grants to home owners up to the total cost of the system. As well as value for money, Islington Council was looking for quality and previous experience in the management of such schemes. It was essential to them that the scheme ran smoothly and the installers actively complied with their customer care and safety policies.
Solution:
Over the course of 18 months, 80 solar hot water and solar electric systems were installed for home owners in the Islington Borough. Efficient project management by Southern Solar ensured that the installation ran smoothly and that clients were kept informed at all times. To increase resources, the project was run from both our London and Bristol branches. These two teams were both working across the sites to ensure maximum flexibility. Following the success of the scheme, Southern Solar has been awarded the contract for a second phase.
