Solar Power for Councils
Solar power is a great way for councils to reduce carbon footprint and bills. Over the past 8 years Southern solar has helped a wide range of councils to improve their buildings with solar technologies.
We can help you with every part of the process:
- Site surveys
- Quotations
- Grant and funding options
- Installation
- Handover
- Ongoing maintenance

There are two types of solar systems:
Solar hot water;
If your building has a high all year round hot water demand then you will quickly see the benefits of a solar hot water system. Council swimming pools are a perfect candidate for solar.
Solar Electric (PV);
Solar electric works well on buildings with large roof spaces and high daytime electricity consumption, such as community centres and day care centres. a solar electric system will reduce your electric bill dramatically and thanks to the Feed-in Tariff could present an attractive financial investment for the building.
If appropriate users of the building can see what is going on with the system by installing a visual display unit in the reception or entrance lobby.
Both solar electric and solar hot water are easy to integrate into existing buildings with minimum disruption and the building can carry on operating as normal while the work is carried out.
