Overview:
Based on the values of the Quakers, Sibford is a co-educational junior and secondary boarding school in Oxfordshire. As Quakers, the school promotes living a sustainable and ethical lifestyle and recent building work left them feeling that their sustainability commitment had not been met. The school decided that installing a solar electric (PV) sytem was a way in which they could reduce their carbon footprint as well as reducing their energy bills.
Our Solution:
Southern Solar designed and installed a 9.25kW system on the new-build classrooms overlooking the sports field. The solar system consisted of 50 sharp 185W Monocrystaline panels and two Fronius IG TL 4.0 inverters. The school obtained three quotations for the project before choosing Southern Solar to carry out the work based on the quality of the service they received. The installation has been a great investment for the school, and despite the poor summer they are still on track for the 7—8 year payback time. The solar system has also acted as a valuable teaching aid, with the children incorporating the meter readings into maths and science lessons.
