Hot Water
Commercial Solar Hot Water Systems
For buildings that have a high hot water demand, a well designed solar hot water system can provide 50-70% of the building's needs.
Essentially a larger scale solar hot water system is the same as what would be put on a house. The principle of how it works is the same but it will be made up of heavy duty componants.
To design a solar hot water system for a larger commercial property we just need to know the amount of heat required in 25 hours (heat load). With this information we can work out the number of panels needed, and also the size of the water storage tank.
System designs can vary, most are quite simple systems which just require a larger tank and panels. Some, such as blocks of flats or properties with lots of separate solar hot water systems, will probably have an additional need for pre-heat tanks and heat exchangers to help efficiently distribute the hot water.
Southern solar are experts in designing and installing both very large scale solar hot water systems and multiple systems. These systems can be easily integrated into the building's existing water system with the minimum of disruption.
