Capturing the sunshine in south Wales

Welsh DragonWe have just has set up a new office in Caerphilly and the new Welsh team hopes to play a big part in helping boosting renewables industry across Wales. At the moment our new team from the local area  consists of David the Branch Manager, Caroline the Administrator and Andrew and Bryn the two installers. They are a lovely enthusiastic bunch and you can find out more about them all here. The team will be recruiting from the local area over the coming months as they build up their workload.

One of the main focuses of the new team will be helping to fulfill some of the solar installations through the Arbed Scheme, a 30 million pound pot that Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) hope will stimulate the economy by providing more jobs and benefiting local communities in the hope of dramatically reducing fuel poverty. The WAG has put aside this money for some of the most deprived houses in Wales. The programme also hopes to increase the amount of renewable energy companies in wales as the country hopes that it will soon have the highest concentration of renewable businesses in Europe.

Wales has one of the most ambitious carbon reduction strategies in the world hoping to be sufficient using renewable withing 20 years and reduce waste to zero by 2050. Its plans mean that it is one of only 3 countries in the world legally bound to develop sustainably.

Look out for out Southern Solar vans across south Wales!

During the first phase around 20 communities in welsh strategic regeneration areas will benefit from the programme funding.

The funding will most likely be supplemented by investment from energy companies and social housing providers to improve the energy performance for their housing stock.

The programme is aimed at increasing the amount of renewable energy businesses in wales and thas the objective of having the highest concentration of renewable businesses in Europe.
