Thermomax
Thermomax are one of Europe's largest manufacturers of evacuated tube solar collectors. They have been making solar energy products for over 25 years from their factories in Wales and Ireland.
We have installed many systems using Thermomax's heat pipe solar collector - the HP200. It consists of a row of evacuated glass tubes which plug into an insulated manifold at the top. The vacuum in the tubes provides it with insulation from the elements so that the system still perfoms when it is windy or cloudy. A heat transfer fluid passes through the manifold at the top of the system and the heat generated is carried from here down to the cylinder.
Some of the kep features of the Thermomax heatpipe system are:
- It is light and easily fits on most houses
- It performs slightly better than a flat plate system
- The HP 200 has built in temperature limitation to 95oC
- It takes up slightly less area for the same heat output when compared to a flate plate system.
